Texas Bluebonnets 2012

I have wanted to take Bluebonnet photos of Nadia since she joined our family. And every single year I have failed to get us organized before they die. It’s sort of unbelievable to me. Last year I thought, “We can do it with both girls this year! We will be home from China in time.” Well, yeah right, that didn’t happen. We were in such a fog once we got home trying to adjust that they were long since dead before I even thought about it.

So this year our friends were going to be visiting from CO on their spring break. My sweet friend Jessica wanted to give it a shot and brought dresses for her girls and everything. We went on a hunt around my house and found a little field with a little patch and we went with it. So here are some of my favorites and you can click on the first photo to see the entire album.

Amelie’s First Haircut

Amelie's 1st Haircut

Last week we got Amelie her first haircut since bringing her home from China. It was finally long enough all around to even out, and with her sweet little curls it looks so cute. Her main concern during all of this was that she got a lollipop from Lisa at the end.

Mike’s Birthday

3.15.2012

For Mike’s birthday Nadia said we had to have a cake! She was really upset on my birthday last year because I didn’t make a cake – apparently you don’t actually age without the cake.  (I did make a cake the next day and she was very happy). She really wanted to help make Mike’s cake with her cooking tools she got for Christmas. She also wanted to give him something Toy Story for a gift so we went with a Toy Story 3 puzzle. In the middle of this discussion Amelie kept asking me if it was her birthday and if the cake was for her. Then I would say, “No it’s for Daddy.” And she walked away singing, “Appy birtday to daddy Appy birtday to daddy.”

That morning we took care of all our usual commitments like museum school and music class and even had some friends over for lunch while Mike was at work. Before nap time we made the cake for Daddy – Nadia had fun learning how to make a marble cake.

Once Mike was home from work we went to dinner at Pappasito’s and it was yummy as always! We came home and decorated the cake and sang Mike ‘Happy Birthday’ again.

Mike said, “This is what your birthday turns into when you have a 5 year old.” That is so true and it was a great day! We love you!

Valentine’s Day 2012

I know this post is a month late, but the photos are cute!

2.14.2012

I was REALLY excited about Valentines this year because of Amelie’s Gotcha Day Anniversary. I bought little gifts for the girls – 1 game to share “Uno Moo.” Then a Hello Kitty Pez dispenser for Amelie and a Yoda for Nadia. We also got a lot of stickers for Amelie and a Star Wars M&M dispenser. They were really excited.

Getting Pez dispensers was apparently so exciting that they fell over.

That day we went to the gym and I went up to the school to mentor my little KIDS HOPE USA child. After the girls had a nap we went to dinner EARLY at Pei Wei and headed home to bake heart cookies. It was a wonderful day!
