The EPIC Gingerbread House

Gingerbread House

Michelle and I started this and worked on it while Nadia was sleeping over the course of two and a half days. We started with the Wilton GIANT gingerbread house kit. It came with icing and assorted candies. We went to Target and added Red Vines, M&M’s and Mike and Ike’s to the mix. Michelle did multiple sketches until she was satisfied with her decorating plan while the basic construction was drying. Then we went to work. ***And we want to give Mike credit for the awesome bow tie he made for the dad!

Michelle worked hard on the wreath and the grass surrounding the house. She also created the masterpiece that was the walkway. The kids are having fun playing football on a snowy day. I did most of the piping and my palm has finally quit hurting after going through all that icing. HA HA! We had a great time and I really want this to be a tradition to do every year, but Nadia and I are going to do the small kit next year for her first try 🙂

And Michelle reminded me below that the families name is The Schmorgosborgonsons.

Aunt Michelle and Nadia take over TEXAS!!! Part DEUX

Now where were we? Oh yes, Thursday afternoon…. After Nadia woke up from her nap, we went to lunch at South Lake Tavern with Aunt Paula, cousin Clay, and Grammie. Lou and I grubbed down on some Philly cheesesteak egg rolls which I’m pretty sure clogged all of my arteries. I loved every debilitating minute of it! 🙂 After wonderful food and wonderful company, us ladies wandered over to visit Mike at work. I stuffed myself with starbursts as Nadia got massive attention from everyone in the office. I mean, why wouldn’t she?? She’s only the sweetest, cutest little baby girl and she was sporting one of the cutest outfits ever (picked out by yours truly). After departing from Mike’s office, we cruised on over to the mall for some quick shopping. At home we ate dinner and then watched one of Lou’s favorite movies “13 going on 30.” (FYI: Awesome movie…y’all should check it out…especially if you are a child of the 80’s and you loved Lisa Frank, blue eyeshadow, and the Thriller dance).

Friday was a whirl-wind as well. Lou took me and Nadia to Cousin’s BBQ and we grubbed down on a platter-o-food. Nadia enjoyed the mac ‘n’ cheese and I enjoyed my very first Texas style brisket. Mmmmmmm tasty!!!! We then toddled our full tummies over to Inscriptions where Chrissie works. I got my mom a gift and Nadia would not leave my side.  Needless to say, I was HAPPY!  On our way home, we u-turned our way over to Curly’s Custard on Camp Bowie. Nadia and I shared a strawberry shortcake custard dessert and shared the moment of both trying custard for the first time ever. For those of y’all that have never tried it, go out right now and get some.  It’s delicious and nutritious!! When we got home, Nadia napped while we worked on our epic gingerbread house. Laura and Teresa came over while we continued our decorating. ***FYI:  Separate blog coming soon solely about the Gingerbread house that will BEAT OUT ALL gingerbread houses EVERYWHERE! Keep your eyes peeled!*** Last night, after grubbing down on some food and putting Nadia down to sleep, Lou, Mike, and I all talked for a while. We had a very candid conversation about the road to adoption, life, and many other topics and I just think to myself that I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and insightful sister and brother-in-law in my life. Compassion, love, and respect truly manifests itself in their relationship.

As my trip comes to a sad end, all I can say is that I’m so very thankful that I was able to spend so much time with Nadia, Mike, and Lou. I had an amazing trip with much needed Nadia Play-Time along with much needed rest. I also had the fortunate chance to just chill with Mike and Lou. There is nothing more that I could have asked for. This was truly the greatest Christmas gift ever and the greatest trip to the big Lone Star state.

Aunt Michelle and Nadia take over TEXAS!!!

After 12 hours of travel and 2 plane rides, I finally arrived to Texas! (FYI: Word to the wise, NEVER, and I mean NEVER give up your seat on a flight for a voucher no matter what the price they try to entice you with! That was the beginning of the end of my day…so I suggest NEVER doing it…moving on….) Since the flight, it’s been smoooooth sailing! I just can’t get enough of the sweetest little girl ever! On the way home from DFW, we stopped at Rosa’s Tacos and got three delicious tacos for $3.33. What a steal! Everyone was a bit tuckered out (especially me and Nadia) so we all fell asleep pretty quickly. The following day I just sat around and played with Nadia. I got to meet the little guy that Louanne mentors (who’s just the sweetest little dude), I got to see the church that Mike, Louanne, and Nadia go to and then it was homeward bound for a nap. I heart naps almost as much as Nadia does! Like my day could not get any better, we woke up from naps and got pedicures! Now Louanne and I are the proud owners of red toes and snowmen on our feet. Snowman Toes And I’m pretty sure everyone in the nail place (Exotic Nails in case you heart our snowmen toes SO much that you want your own…the fine artist’s name is Tony) loved little sweetness.  How could they not?? Duh! Pedicure Time She sat patiently on my lap, mesmerized by the bubbles and the massage chair’s remote control.  It was quite the fun times! Pedicure Time Well after that, we came home…Nadia napped it up and Louanne and I did what we do best, we chatted it up! For all of you that know her (and possibly know me), we are non-stop chatter boxes when we are together. I love it so much! And don’t deny it, you do too! Once Nadia woke up, the gang went to Michael’s and purchased a gingerbread house that we will assemble today. We picked up some frozen pizza as well and grubbed down with a smorgasbord of food! Mac and Cheese What can I say? This has been a fabulous trip SO far! I get to eat a bunch, hang out with my sister and brother-in-law and play non-stop with Nadia (the sweetest baby in the whole wide world).Fun with Fridge Farm

Bath time fun and a new toy

Bath time

Nadia’s hair is getting so long that it sticks out all directions when it’s wet. It was so entertaining to me that I had to snap a few shots during and after the bath.

After Bath

Crazy hair

So it’s not really a “new” toy because we bought it 2 years ago at IKEA after our paperwork went to China, but it’s new to Nadia 🙂
