Cake decorating class

First Cake

My first cake from last Friday night.

I have been waiting about 5 months for Michaels to offer a Course 1 cake decorating class at night so that Mike could stay home with Nadia. It is being offered on a Friday night and so only 2 of us signed up….which is awesome because we are getting individual time and instruction. She asked us if Friday worked for us for Course 2 and 3 and we said yes. So it looks like I will be taking cake class for the next 12 weeks. At that point I will see when the Course 4 is being offered and go from there. I am so excited to finally be doing this as I thought it was something I would really enjoy.

The cake below is the practice cake I did this week to keep working on icing and stars. I took it up to the church for the staff meeting and they were really sad……yeah right!!

What do your kids see?

I saw this on Kiy’s blog today and I had to post it here because it’s so awesome.

If you as parents cut corners, your children will too. If you lie, they will too. If you spend all your money on yourselves and tithe no portion of it for charities, colleges, churches, synagogues, and civic causes, your children won’t either. And if parents snicker at racial and gender jokes, another generation will pass on the poison adults still have not had the courage to snuff out.

All Gone!

During the women’s gymnastics on Friday night I ate the last tube of these wonderful Orange Ritz from China. 🙁 We brought 3 packs home with us in March and I have been stringing them out to make them last. But I was getting worried that they would go bad and decided to finish them off while enjoying the Olympics mania going on in our house.
