Jen and Nadia

Jen and Nadia

My cousin Jen came up to visit from Sugarland last weekend. She hadn’t been up here since Nadia was baptized back in September and boy has Nadia changed since then. Most of Nadia’s waking hours were spent in playtime. Jen also ran around with me to complete a few pre-trip errands while Nadia napped, like getting my hair cut and so on. We all went to eat at Pappasitos’s. YUM!!! We had to have a little Tex-Mex fix before we are out of the country for a month. Jen also joined us for a trip to Fry’s to pick up a step down transformer and a couple of adaptors for the apartment. We were so grateful for her keeping the cuteness entertained.

While Mike was looking at computer software we wandered off and were watching some kids play “Rock Band”. I got all psyched out that I wanted to play the drums. So a guy who ACTUALLY knew how the game worked offered to play guitar and let me pick the song. I choose “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi. It was so much fun, but I kept laughing and would get major off beat. Nadia was getting excited and pretending to bang drum sticks like me. So after we finished Jen and Nadia got in the drummers seat and I took up the guitar. We failed the song 3 times in a row because I just couldn’t get my groove on, but Jen and Nadia were great drummers. Another guy came up to play guitar and I switched to bass. MUCH better and we didn’t fail the song. I have got to tell you that “Rock Band” is a really fun game. I have seen it on a TV review and on other people’s blogs. It was great fun!!

On Sunday Jen and I went to church so that I could get some KIDS HOPE stuff done. After church we went to lunch with a friend from church. We went to Pei Wei because “it’s tradition.” Then we came home and Jen got some more Nadia time in before she had to head home and back to life as the super duper Jr. High Spanish teacher that she is. (Teacher of the Year I would like to add).

Thanks for coming to see us Jen! You know I adore you and think that you are one of the most awesome people that I know. Your sweet heart and love for God have been a great example to me…..from the time we were teens and I wanted to be like you 🙂 And from that I learned about the Lord, and became addicted to PJ’s.

This photo is of Nadia in her Apple Hat that was made by Leigh at Mike’s office. TOO CUTE! And oh my gosh I love this photo of Nadia!

Thankful Thursday

First I want to say thanks to my friend Robyn who sent a Chinese New Year gift box to us all the way from Canada. She sent a case of Wunderbars (that’s right, a case..YUM), Smarties and one of her favorite books for Nadia. It’s called “A Wrinkle In Time”. The 2 images that follow here are something I told her about that she wanted to see. Sherry’s Place in GZ made these for us after we bought about a million pairs of squeeky shoes. The first is Nadia’s Chinese name and a dog because she was born in the year of the dog. The second says “Happy Family”. I think they are just so pretty.

Happy Family

  • I am thankful that we are a Happy Family! Our life is just wonderful and blessed beyond belief.
  • That my friend Jacquelyn is out of the hospital and healing at home.
  • For my cousin Jen who is coming for a visit this weekend. YEAH!
  • That the packing for the trip is mostly done. Just need to toss the clothes in and pack the laptop. WOOT!
  • For mac and cheese. When Nadia won’t eat anything else, she will eat this.
  • For Karen taking care of the KIDS HOPE program for me while we are gone.
  • For all the people that have told us they will be praying for our safety and fun times on our trip.

Gift from Nonni and Papa

My mom sent this outfit at Christmas, but it was still a bit big for Nadia. I put it on today and it’s just precious!!! The first shots feature the dancing queen with the ever popular Learn and Groove.

Followed by Peek A Boo!

And finally “STOP taking photos mom!!”

The Big 30! (inches that is)

For the last few days I have been thinking Nadia is taller. So this morning we measured her. She has grown .75 inches in the last 2 weeks pushing her up to the 30″ mark! I weighed her too, but that’s the same – 19 1/2 pounds. But now her 9 month yoga pants look like capris. Hee hee. Time to break out some 12 month pants.
