Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for Museum School! Nadia is in her 3rd year and Amelie is in her 1st and it’s just an amazing place. They love the kids and teach them so many interesting things, while offering access to the museum’s private collection of specimens.

In the 3rd year the children study environments, and the year started with the seashore. Nadia’s class just finished “Urban” and they told us she spent a long time working on her house, so I decided to video tape her description because a photo just doesn’t do it justice.

It’s become a tradition for our family celebration of Nadia’s birthday to be attending Boo at the Zoo. We knew that we were going to cause quite a sensation this year as the Santa family. Mike had a bag ready of treats to give to kids including mini Christmas erasers, mini candy canes and peppermints. The girls were excited about the whole thing because they are really in love with Daddy as Santa – which I find humorous since we don’t have Santa come to our house each year.

This cracked the girls up.

We had fun with the clowns too. Everywhere we went we heard children yelling, “SANTA SANTA SANTA!!” Children ran up and hugged Mike’s leg and told him what they wanted for Christmas. It was really cute! A large number of adults also attempted to tell him that they had been nice all year too.

We had so much fun and by the end of the day we were ready to take the train back to the entrance.

I am thankful for my Uncle Roger and Aunt Paula. All my life they have been a wonderful example of having a great marriage, parenting, caring for others and loving your neighbor. They have loved me and loved my little family. I have tons of stories that I could tell about them, but I decided to share a cute one from my childhood. Frequently a box would arrive in the mail from Roger and it was filled with every kind of pen imaginable! They used to own an office supply company and he would send me all the pen samples from trade shows and what not. I am convinced that this caused my pen obsession and I am okay with that because they are cheaper than shoes 🙂

I love you guys!

Last month my mom (aka Nonnie) came for a visit and we had so much fun. It was great for her to get to know Amelie in person and they bonded over food. We picked Nonnie up at the airport and headed for Chick Fil A for dinner. Once we got home her and the girls just had a lot of fun playing before bedtime. The next morning we woke up and Nadia demonstrated her reading to Nonnie and then they headed outside to play.

Later that afternoon we headed to Nadia’s buddy Jurnee’s 6th birthday party.
