Houston Rodeo 2009

Click the photo above to see the whole album. It’s a mix of photos that Jen and I took.

Nadia and I headed down to Sugarland to spend a few days with my cousin Jennifer. We went to the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo to let Nadia check out all the fun kiddie exhibits. I have a lot of photos from the trip so I am going to break this up into several posts. The first thing we took her through was called “Fun on the Farm” and the kids were able to learn all about being a farmer. We took photos at each section, but they started by getting an apron and a basket then they were given a cup of chicken feed. Nadia fed the chickens and then she was able to collect an egg.

Then she milked a cow which was the highlight for her because Maisy the mouse does that in one of her books. After milking the cow they gave her a carton of milk to put in her basket.

Next Nadia was given a seed to plant to grow carrots. She planted her seed and then picked up a carrot at the end for her basket.

Next Nadia got to pet the sheep and then collect the wool for her basket. (I love this photo Jen took)

Next Nadia had to pick a peach off a tree and pick some corn for her farmers basket of goodies.

Then it was off to the farmers market to “sell” the stuff that she grew and made on the farm. She gave back her apron and basket and she was given a dollar.

And here she is at the store buying something with the sale of her goods from the farm. The circle of farming is complete!

Chocolate Trifecta

chocolate

In the last 6 months or so I have received a collection of interesting chocolates from around the world. Fudge from Tasmania, chocolate from Switzerland and a handmade chocolate bar from Belgium.

Thanks to all who sent or brought these to me. They are awesome!!!

I am blessed with wonderful friends 🙂

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for the little things that make Nadia happy. For example “Curious George Pancakes with Blueberries”. I bought her this book a few weeks ago and it has a reciepe on the back so one morning I asked her if she wanted me to make them for her. “With Blueberries?” she asked. I happened to have some in the freezer so we made them and she was so happy. (of course she didn’t eat the blueberries, but that just made me laugh because she is our ‘no fruit’ girl) So she ate around the blueberries on one and then ate a plain one.

It’s just so easy to make small children happy.
