Wait, no I’m not…not at all surprised. I have heard just about everything…I want to sit here and rant so bad about the people that don’t even take the time to remember my kid’s names, much less recognize them as a part of my family…and me as their mom. I know I am a bit different then others in the way we are going about adoption…but I wonder how people will treat my kids when the adoption is finalized…will they start to remember their names and consider them a part of us?? Will I get to hear Happy Mother’s Day then? Or will I still be a Non-Mom to them, and my kids will still be the nameless Non-Kids!

Okay rant over…for now.

Thank you for the post, it is comforting to not be alone in these crazy struggles!

A non-mum??!!! Grrr….. this sort of thing drives me WILD!! And I agree Louanne about the ‘kids of your own’ comment. It is incredibly offensive and debases being a mum to a gorgeous adopted kid. Speaking as one who has two ‘of my own’ and an adopted daughter, I can safely say that there is NO DIFFERENCE in how I love them. Ok, I will hop off my soapbox now too…

I feel sorry for anyone who has not had or will not have the amazing experience we have had adopting our sweet Charlotte.

They better issue some sort of public apology. Shameful considering what day and age this is, and that Marie Osmond has adopted children, too.

All this contest catergory is doing is perpetuating the stereotypes that so many small-minded people have.

Argh.

But the more I think about it, the more I think the adoptive mom’s should have been in one of the traditional categories. It’s one thing to say, “Hey Military moms have a special hardship – lets bring it to light.”

Some of the lists I am a part of have 5,000- 10,000 members and they have been very busy voicing their complaints.
