It is pronounced like “family” without the “f”.

P.S. You’ve probably already said this in your blog, but do you pronounce Amelie’s name like “Emily”?

With our daughter the first day was the only really hard day. Try your best to stay calm for Amelia. With our daughter she had a difficult time when she woke up from the anesthesia. Even though we waited 6 months after being home for her surgery Sarah seemed to revert back to the same behavior she had at adoption and seemed to want foster Mom for comfort. It didn’t last very long but thought it may be helpful to be prepared for the possibility. Don’t be afraid to make sure the nurses give pain meds when “you” feel she needs them. You can better judge how she is handling any pain than the nurses can. Just follow your instinct.
Amelia will bounce back amazingly fast. Our daughter was running around the next morning laughing at the hospital playground with us following along behind her like two nervous Nellys. I am sure Amelia will do the same.
