Well done guys for hanging in there – it is TOUGH when these little ones are so distressed. But they are resilient and your love will conquer all. xxxx

Her cries and then the turning off to you reminded me so much of my dd’s experience. She cried and then shut down for a week. Gradually opened up a little each day until she was smiling quite a bit by the time we left China.

Continued good luck to you all!

I’m a fellow LID Nov 2005 family and your blog is archived in my favorites. It’s been such an honor to watch your family grow with the additional of sweet Amelie. Mike, I would like you to know that I can relate to EXACTLY how you are feeling. Our first adoption in 2003 was a fairy tale compared to the experience I had with our 2nd daughter in 2007. She was 15 months on Gotcha Day and would have nothing to do with me. I was heartbroken. In retrospect, I wish I had reacted to the situation differently. I look back on the pictures of that time in China, and I see how very sad our daughter was. I wish I had been more understanding in my own heart to what she was going through. You are obviously a very loving and devoted father and before you know it she is going to realize that, too! My prayers are for each one of you….that our Jesus will lift your spirits and encourage you! Thanks for letting me tag along!
Warmly,
Rebecca 🙂

Even at the top her lungs, Amelie is letting us know she is here and now part of our wonderful family!! This reminded me of my favorite line from Steel Magnolias “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion!” We love all four of you so much!! Mom xoxo

I am a fellow Yinchuan SWI adoptive Mom from the Yinchuan Yahoo group. Our daughter came into our family just over one year ago. I am enjoying following along on your journey. It brings back so many wonderful and bittersweet memories. Our daughter responded in much the same way as your little sweet little girl except she would only go to Baba. Our daughter also has limb differences. If you are visiting the orphanage again and you think of it please let them know that Qinger (pronounced Ching Are) is doing very well.
God bless you and your family. Thank you so much for sharing.
