Grammie’s Birthday

My Grammie had to be moved to an assisted living place in September and it’s been a serious transition. She is doing well now and the place my aunts found for her is wonderful. Nadia even told me I should go live there when I am old 😉 We went out with my Aunt Paula and Grammie on her actual birthday for Taco Tuesday at Rosa’s and then ice cream at Braums. Later in the week Roger and Paula set up a little party for her at her assisted living place. Quite a few people drove in for the event and they even arranged for her old boss to come and visit which made her so happy. Her oldest friend GeorgeAnn was there along with her kids. It was a really nice time to celebrate Grammie. We love you Grammie!

Thankful Thursday

For my Grammie! She turned 81 this week and we celebrated on her actual birthday with Taco Tuesday and ice cream. Then this weekend we celebrate again with family!

We love you Grammie!

On the way home from the beach

The day we had to travel home from the beach was also my birthday so we took it easy because I didn’t want to be scrambling. The girls gave me this card with 40 candles when I got up.

We stopped for a photo of this guy that the girls liked.

We stopped for BBQ for my birthday lunch. YUM!

I told the girls they needed to take a nap. Dani got mad and put her blanket over her head to pout. Then promptly fell asleep. Outside of Austin we stopped at IKEA to give the girls a long stretch break and to check out the beds for Amelie. We also had dinner there and Mike bought the girls each a toy which they love when going to IKEA.

The drive home was nice. I got lots of texts and phone calls wishing me happy birthday. The funniest call was from my brother who told me he was sorry I was turning 40 because once he turned 30 it was all downhill (he is 32 now). The most exciting call was from my sister Tahni who called from Belgium and I hadn’t heard her voice since July.

Beach 2015 – Day 7

The red tide was horrible again so we headed for Sea Turtle Inc which is a rescue and hospital for the turtles around the island.

This is Allison. She has a prosthesis to help her swim multiple hours a day with a volunteer “watcher”. We got there in time to see them put it on her and swim around. The story of all the trial workups is really interesting. You can check out their website here.

I was trying to get a photo of this girl and she kept swimming by and splashing me.

The girls with Gerry who has been on TV as a representative of Sea Turtle Inc.

The girls wanted to take this photo, but they were so tired and the red tide fumes were so bad that it was becoming unbearable. After this we headed back to the condo so the girls could nap and we could start packing up. It was a really good trip overall, but no red tide would have made it perfect.
