Earlier this month I took my friend A’Jani to the TCU home football opener as a late birthday present. I first met him when he was 7 years old, and this was a celebration of his 13th birthday. I met him through the KIDS HOPE program that I run and it’s been such a blessing for our family to have connected with his family. Neither of us had ever been to a college football game and we both had a great time! It was also TCU’s first game in their new stadium and as a member of the Big 12! The new stadium is really nice and it’s astounding that they were able to fund raise the entire $163 million dollars!
This shot was taken while we were waiting in line to go down on the field and run across it with the team. Once down on the field they gave each kid a TCU jersey and then we got ready to run. Before the team came out they had a jet flyover from the joint reserve base followed by a man in a jet pack who flew up over the side of the stadium and down into the middle of the field where he handed over a football. It was really cool! Then the team came out and we started running and it was total mania!!! I tried to take a photo, but it was blurry and I didn’t want to get run over by a bunch of little kids and their parents.
I took this shot from the other side of the field while waiting to go up the steps and get off the field. C-O-O-L!
Needless to say, our seats were awesome thanks to the Stuntz’s who let me buy a couple of their season tickets.
TCU played Grambling State and they totally crushed them 56 -0, but no one beats the Grambling band. It was incredible!! They were given nearly the entire halftime and the TCU band did a little bit at the end.
We stayed through the entire game and watched the fireworks at the end and ate plenty of junk food. Then we wandered back through the crowds to wait in line for the shuttle. It was such a fun time!
