Here is the cake that I made for my birthday. I hand made all the pansies out of royal icing. Then I used a cake pan insert to make the checkerboard inside. Fun, huh?
22 months and a playdate
Nadia was 22 months yesterday. She weighed in at 21 pounds 8 ounces. No height growth again so she is still 32″. She said her first complete sentence on Monday. She was eating in her highchair and Mike came in the kitchen to leave for work and she pointed at the chair next to her and said, “Dada. Come and sit!” Too cute!! The cutest words she says right now are “helmet,” “fell” and “clacky clack moo.” The last one being from a book recommended by my Nov 2005 buddies called “Clack, Clack, Moo – Cows that Type”. I highly recommend it.
On Wednesday we hosted a play date for the MOM’s group I belong too. The zebra was the most popular item, Nadia was quick to show the little ones how to bounce on it. It was the first time that she had other little kids over and had to share her toys, but she did well. After about the 3rd time I told her that she had to share and there were plenty of toys, she did great the rest of the time. Here are a few photos.
And the aftermath!
Cake decorating class
My first cake from last Friday night.
I have been waiting about 5 months for Michaels to offer a Course 1 cake decorating class at night so that Mike could stay home with Nadia. It is being offered on a Friday night and so only 2 of us signed up….which is awesome because we are getting individual time and instruction. She asked us if Friday worked for us for Course 2 and 3 and we said yes. So it looks like I will be taking cake class for the next 12 weeks. At that point I will see when the Course 4 is being offered and go from there. I am so excited to finally be doing this as I thought it was something I would really enjoy.
The cake below is the practice cake I did this week to keep working on icing and stars. I took it up to the church for the staff meeting and they were really sad……yeah right!!
Busy
Hello all. We are just plain busy around here, but I thought I would upload some photos from the end of June. Here is Nadia with some of her second cousins who are in town this week.
Here she is on the zebra so many people have – it plays this funky disco music – but note the Pink Cowgirl Boots. It makes the photo.
Here she is chilling on the couch with everything she needs. 2 teddy bears, 2 “babies”, cup of water and a bag of Teddy Grahams.
