On our way to China Camp this year we decided to stop once again in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma to go to the Toy & Action Figure Museum. We started out in the costume section.
Spidey and Conflicted Wonder Woman/Vader.
Nadia was so serious and told Amelie not to block the light saber.
I was totally thrilled about this new exhibit! I had a nice little trip down memory lane and told Nadia all about the toys that I had as a kid. Good stuff.
The “Super Family” – this year made it a tradition to visit on the way to China Camp.
The last day of our Houston trip we spend with Jen, Chris and the boys. We had breakfast and then and then Amelie “read” Brown Bear to Caleb.
We went to the park so the girls could burn off a little energy. The boys thought that Nadia was hilarious and we got to hear some cute giggles.
After we returned to the house we had lunch, the boys went down for a nap and then Chris gave me some coaching for my garden. His is awesome with like 4′ tall tomato plants (he sent me home with a bag full – yum). Around nap time we hit the road for home and I hoped that the girls would sleep for a good two hours.
Caleb loved Nadia’s ponies which she thought was funny.
Caleb and Joshua.
It’s harder than you think to get a photo with twins 🙂 Thanks for the fun visit Jen and Chris!
After spending the night at Papa and Grandma Brooke’s we had breakfast and prepared to head over to the Houston Children’s Museum.
My sister Bayli came by before we left and I was so happy to see her even for a brief time.
Super cool climbing thing that Nadia was too young to do last time we visited. She had a blast in there!
In the kids ambulance at the museum Nadia was trying to save the dummy’s life. I said, “Are you going to save him?” Nadia said “no I can’t!” Why not? “Because he has no eyebrows!”
After the museum we met my Dad at Niko Niko’s for some Greek food and it was SO GOOD. It is a “Diners, Drive In and Dives” place so I was extra excited to go. Then I took the girls back to give the girls a nap and to pack us up for the drive over to Sugarland where we were going to have dinner at Pearl Dynasty and stay with our friends from our first China trip.
Precious kids looking at me like, “Why are you interrupting this great play time we have going here?” We headed over the Lisa’s and I put Amelie to bed while the other kids played and played until Nadia had bags under her eyes and was a walking zombie. Her and Angelina were in the same room in the orphanage and were adopted the same day, so it’s important for both families to keep the girls in touch since we live a reasonable distance away. It was a wonderful second day of our trip!
This Thankful Thursday I am thankful for my longtime friend Jessica! We met when we were 13 and although we haven’t lived in the same town since we were 15, we have stayed in touch and friends all these years. For that special friendship I am so grateful.
So when Jessica sent me a message saying she was going to be in Houston for a conference in May, my first thought was “WOO HOO!” Once she got the details, I planned to take the girls down to Houston to see her since she had never met Amelie and it had been 2 years since Nadia and I had seen her. I was literally counting the days for this visit! Thursday morning swim lessons were canceled due to a big storm and so the girls and I left town about an hour earlier than we planned. The girls did so well on the drive down that we only had to stop once! It was amazing! We picked Jessica up at her hotel and headed over the Houston Aquarium since they have a little outside area. We planned to have dinner, but the girls really needed to burn off some energy. We walked around the open areas inside the building including a restaurant where you can dine while looking at the big fish tanks.
This photo does not do justice to how very BIG this type of fish was and how many there were.
Jess got the girls tickets to ride the carousel (notice it’s all water animals – so cute) and here is Nadia pretending to be a croc.
Amelie rockin’ the shades.
After the aquarium we headed over to Spaghetti Warehouse for dinner. On a side note, their kids meal is a super value and a very kid friendly place. Once dinner was over we called my dad to see if we could swing by there since it was too early to take Jess back to the hotel and his place has a super cool roof view of Houston.
Jessica and Amelie.
After a little more visiting and catching up we took Jess back to the hotel since she had early meetings in the morning and I put my very tired children to bed at Papa and Grandma Brooke’s. I was a blessing to see you Jess! Hugs and love from Texas!
