Thankful Thursday

1 yr with Amelie

  • For my WONDERFUL husband Mike! Today is his birthday and my life is so much better because he is my husband!

There are so many reasons I am thankful for Mike, but I will just list a few.

  • For loving God and seeking to serve him.
  • For your compassionate heart for those in need.
  • For taking such good care of us!
  • For making me laugh every single day. If laughter adds years to your life I am going to live to be 150 years old.
  • For being such a great daddy to our girls!
  • Because you do cool stuff like build outdoor wonderlands and gardens for your family.
  • For having the idea to do family dress up for Halloween.
  • For being a part of the PJ Polar Express party – jammies and all.

I LOVE YOU!!

Thankful Thursday

(this is not our bed, I just liked the photo/bedding and was trying to convey big and comfy for this post)

  • For BEDS!
  • For the fact that we have a bed, our girls each have a bed and even our guest room has a bed.
  • For the fact that every night I lay down in a room in my climate controlled house in a totally comfy bed with my own comfy blanket.
  • For the fact that I never have to wonder where I am going to sleep or if anyone is going to attack me or my children in the night like so many around the globe.

This is Muzeyii our sponsored child in Uganda. A couple of years ago we sent an extra gift of $100 for his family at Christmas time. The World Vision staff took him shopping and look at what he chose – a bed!  He had never had a bed before. He was also able to buy the goat, set of clothes and those VERY large shoes for growing into.

Here is our sponsored child Fredy from Peru. The same year we sent his family an extra $100 gift for Christmas and guess what he bought – a bed! Plus blankets, a backpack, a goat and that cute little outfit for his mom! What a great kid!

My point of sharing this photos is not to say that Mike and I are so great for sponsoring kids, but to show that we completely take our life for granted so often. That something as simple as a bed can be an amazing thing to people around the world. We are so blessed by the kids we sponsor and the letters we received from them and their families, but especially through photos like these.

  • For finding out that 3 girls were rescued from the sex trafficking trade during the Super Bowl. One church printed up booklets of missing girls from around the country. Then they handed them out in hotels and ask maids and other staff if they had seen any of the girls. Working with police they rescued 3 girls that maids identified. 2 of them had been missing from their families 4 years and 1 had been missing for 5 years! YEARS in the trade and now reunited with their families.
  • God Bless that church for their efforts – I am thankful for those people that I have never met.
  • For the wonderful women in my MOM’s group and our amazing mentor moms.
  • For Mike building the girls the MOST AMAZING playset ever.
  • For the endless hours of outside fun and adventure the girls are going to have together out there.
  • For Nadia reading us “Green Eggs and Ham” this week. She was so proud.

  • I am thankful that the Hameloth family has Josie! Feel free to go to their blog and read about the rest of their adventures in China.
  • For attending the Sally Clarkson conference last weekend.
  • For Mike keeping the girls so that I could attend the conference.
  • For all the sweet women I met and the wonderful words of encouragement the speakers had.

  • For my sister Bayli coming down for the evening. We played on the Wii and she played with the girls and then we had dinner. A lovely night.
