Polar Express PJ Party 2013

*We have had so much going on the last few weeks plus house guests, so I am way behind on blogging. So I am just going to start adding posts in no particular order 🙂

One of our family Christmas traditions is to attend the “Polar Express PJ party” at the Fort Worth Science and History Museum. All of us wear our jammies and the girls love it! We go early enough so they can take part in the polar themed science experiments. Then we get some popcorn and line up for the movie.

While we were wandering around the experiments and man from the marketing department came up and asked if we would sign a waiver to be used in promotions. We said yes and he asked us to pose with the Museum mascot. Then later that night our photo showed up on the Museums Facebook page.  It made ironing my jammies worth it. HA HA!

I think my eyes bugged out more than the girls when I saw this set up!

Gingerbread 2013

This year my friend Laura invited us over to do Gingerbread Houses with her and I am so glad she did!! She had big houses set up for her and I. Then she let the girls pick between houses, trees or a carousel. They both chose to do a chalet. Laura gave us each bowls to fill with candy, a bag of icing and we got to work.

The back of my house. And because I got to do my own, that meant I could be symmetrical 🙂 Laura says that we can make this a new tradition and we are so excited!

And this is the craft gingerbread house that the girls made with Aunt Tahni during her visit. I think we covered all the gingerbread bases.

These chairs are a kid size version of the very popular ones from IKEA. I think they are totally adorable and the girls love to sit in them.

Mike’s mom was still in rehab for her broken hip, but we got a pass to bring her to our place for Christmas lunch.

Christmas with children is always so much fun, but when Texas gets snow for Christmas, the excitement goes over the top.

The girls thought it was hilarious to put snow on Mike’s beard.

Amelie gave up on the snow long before Nadia so I bundled her up tight with her new owl.

We had such a nice and peaceful Christmas and I am so blessed by my sweet family.

We went to the Christmas Eve service at church and then headed home to decorate sugar cookies. Before bed the girls opened their gifts from Aunt Tahni and Uncle Joseph and had some fun playtime before bed. Nadia serenaded us with a bunch of songs on her new ukelele which was entertaining.

After the girls went to bed we prepped the stockings – love the little sock monkeys. Nadia had a fun time telling me all about how Daddy Santa is the one who fills them 🙂
