For Mike’s birthday Nadia said we had to have a cake! She was really upset on my birthday last year because I didn’t make a cake – apparently you don’t actually age without the cake. (I did make a cake the next day and she was very happy). She really wanted to help make Mike’s cake with her cooking tools she got for Christmas. She also wanted to give him something Toy Story for a gift so we went with a Toy Story 3 puzzle. In the middle of this discussion Amelie kept asking me if it was her birthday and if the cake was for her. Then I would say, “No it’s for Daddy.” And she walked away singing, “Appy birtday to daddy Appy birtday to daddy.”
That morning we took care of all our usual commitments like museum school and music class and even had some friends over for lunch while Mike was at work. Before nap time we made the cake for Daddy – Nadia had fun learning how to make a marble cake.
Amelie trying hard to be a part of the action and see what Nadia is up to.
Once Mike was home from work we went to dinner at Pappasito’s and it was yummy as always! We came home and decorated the cake and sang Mike ‘Happy Birthday’ again.
Mike said, “This is what your birthday turns into when you have a 5 year old.” That is so true and it was a great day! We love you!
