Quotes from the girls

Amelie starts *every* prayer with, “Dear Lord, thank you for our food and for having fun.” Just now she added, “and thank you for no bears, frogs, or birds in our house.” And it was said with great sincerity.

Nadia: Mom, when I grow up I want to be a wife. And have babies that I homeschool. And a chef-cooker. And a photographer. And make videos where I show people how to cook and craft.

Me: So you want to be the Pioneer Woman.

Nadia: Maybe, but with no dogs. And I won’t drink all that wine.

I was upstairs collecting all the trash and Nadia walked up and said, “Mommy you…. a gift to me.” I stopped and turned to her and said, “What did you say?” She said, “You are like a gift that was given to me because I got you for my mommy.” (insert tears)

Didn’t make it to the gym today so decided to do Just Dance on the Wii tonight. Amelie says, “Mommy! Are you going to do Go! Dog! Go! ?”

Translation: “Mommy! Are you going to do Who Let the Dogs Out?”

Nadia – Mom, you know when I went to Home Depot with Daddy in your car he said he didn’t want to listen to the Ariel music.

Me – that’s okay honey, everyone likes different things.

N – But why doesn’t he want to sing along really loud like us?

Me – Well Daddy isn’t really into singing soundtracks at the top of his lungs. He isn’t as rowdy as us.

N – Well that’s it, I am only going to have girl babies so they will sing loudly with me.

Nadia – Mom, can we PLLLEEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEE pretend the tooth fairy comes our house? I need to buy some stuff. Please?

Me – What is this tooth fairy of which you speak?

N – MOM!!! You know what I am talking about.

Me- Do you have any loose teeth?

N – No, I am just planning ahead.

Nadia while eating – “MOM! Don’t do silly things while I am eating and drinking or it might spew all over the place!”

I was pretending like I was going to take a bite out of Nadia for breakfast and Amelie yells out in a dramatic voice: MOMMY, don’t eat Nadia…. she’s my best friend!

Thankful Thursday

I am so thankful for the Mom’s group I am a part of through my church. Our leaders are wonderful and love us so well. The women in the group are such a blessing to me. I could go on and on, but it’s enough to say that I am so grateful for their friendship.

Hours of Fun!

We bought this little hippo pool for $10 last year and it has provided hours of fun for the girls. Mike put it at the bottom of the slide and they have been having a blast making up different scenarios to play out. Here is a short little video of the most fun you can have with a kiddie pool.

On a completely unrelated note I want to mention the duckie you see in these photos. It has lived in our backyard year round since 2009. It has been played with by dozens of children, survived the elements including sun and snow and it just stays intact and blown up. I am starting to believe we accidentally got one made of some secret government test material for the military 😉

First ‘Home Art Studio’ Lesson

When the Homeschool Buyers Co-op had a sale on the Home Art Studio curriculum I snagged all the levels. I wanted them for the girls and I knew I was going to be teaching art for the younger kids in our homeschool co-op this year. As I was deciding on which lessons to teach, I thought the girls needed to be my guinea pigs timing wise. I chose the ‘Color Mixing Hands’ so that Amelie could take part too. I prepped all the supplies in advance and then let the girls watch the DVD. We paused as needed and it was easy for them to follow along.

This was the end of part one and we had to leave the hand prints to dry. PS. I love our new elastic edge vinyl tablecloth that I can pull out for projects like this.

Now it was time to mix up the background colors.

The finished project. Amelie’s looks a little wild, but considering it is a kindergarten project, I think she did a great job.
