Hello all. First an update about the surgery. Amelie did great and is a real trooper. I will do a more detailed post, but they were able to accomplish their goals today and we are really excited to see how it will look in three weeks when they remove her cast. After a 3 hour nap today she was up and about playing and laughing with Nadia. The cast is a bit frustrating for her, but I think she will be ignoring it soon.
Here are some photos and a video that Mike took yesterday to show how well she was using her hands before the surgery.
We will be heading to Dallas early Wednesday morning for Amelie’s first hand surgery. We are very blessed that the surgery will be at Texas Scottish Rite hospital. Our prayer is that they will be able to complete her left hand in this one surgery. If they cannot, then she will have another surgery in 3 -4 months.
We are also praying for Amelie to not be too stressed out once she wakes up with the cast on. She is very dependent on her left hand and I know it’s going to be hard on her to have it immobilized for 3 weeks.
A group of my sweet friends from church hosted a Sip N See for Amelie last Friday. Amelie was with me for an hour and a half and then Mike picked her up to go to bed and I stayed for a fun little girls night. There was wonderful food and cute little petite fours from McKinley’s. YUM!
I wasn’t sure how well Amelie was going to take all the people, but she was only in my arms a short time before she wanted to walk around and investigate. I could tell she was mostly keeping me in sight, but that she was curious about what was going on.
She really loved the jewelry that Kaye had on and when Kaye let her put on the necklace and bracelets Amelie said, “thank you.” I was really excited because it was crystal clear what she said. Here she is with Kaye just before getting the jewelry.
Mike and Nadia came to pick up Amelie for bed and Nadia fell asleep with her bitty baby so I had to snap a photo.
Bye bye!
Here are some of my sweet friends. (Thanks Tricia & Rebecca for taking photos)
Before everyone left I opened the gifts and it really touched my heart that people had thought of Nadia too. It was a wonderful evening to talk, laugh and share the story of our China trip with some details that we didn’t put on the blog. Friends are such a blessing and I am grateful for you.
Nadia’s good buddy Eli turned four and we were invited to a “camping” birthday party. His mom Brooke set up the back yard SO CUTE! Click the photo below to see the whole album.
