Thanksgiving 2009

We had a very mellow Thanksgiving and it was wonderful. Papa and Grandma Brooke came up and we had a wonderful meal. We made the Good Eats turkey again, but I thought it was the best turkey I have made yet. YUM! Grandma Brooke handled the side items and they were all delicious too. Then I made an Apple Pumpkin Pie. The best of both worlds in one dessert. So good!

Then Friday night we all headed to Paula and Rogers for Grammie’s Green Chili Stew and Nadia had tons of fun playing and talking to everyone.

November Trip to San Antonio

I had to drive to San Antonio for a Child Ambassador meeting, so Mike and Nadia joined me since it was a weekend. The meeting went well and I enjoyed meeting the Child Ambassadors from Austin and San Antonio. Here we are at the end of the meeting.

That night Mike, Nadia and I decidedĀ eat at the #1 rated restaurant in SA on Trip Advisor. Trip Advisor usually steers me right (remember Prossers BBQ from our beach trip? Yum!), but this time I was not so sure. But we did have fun and the atmosphere of the place was really cool. We ate outside and had a great time watching Nadia have fun. The first photo is her looking through her “binoculars”

Attempted a family photo, gave up and headed back to the hotel.

On Sunday before we left for home we met up with a family in our China travel group for pizza at Goomba’s. It was great and I will put in a plug for their garlic bread. It’s actually a little pizza. YUM!

It was fun to see the girls together and catch up with Mya and Duane. Mya’s mom also came, which was fun because she traveled to China with us too šŸ™‚

World AIDS Day 2009

Hello everyone! Did you know that every 13 seconds a child somewhere in the world is orphaned to the HIV/AIDS pandemic? It’s a startling number that breaks my heart. Here in America we are largely isolated from the devastation that many nations of the world are facing on a daily basis due to this virus. In America we have fantastic access to AIDS medication that just doesn’t exist for large portions of the world.

I ask you today for two things.

1)Ā  Take just a moment out of your day to say a prayer or at least think of all these poor children who don’t have access to the great things we do in America.

2) To consider sponsoring a child from an AIDS impacted country. If you want to know more, just ask me. I have picture folders from Zambia and Rwanda with kids of all ages and genders.

You can make a difference and you can offer HOPE in a hopeless situation. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

“To the world you might be one person but to oneĀ person you might beĀ the world.”
